Modern Press has acquired Capitol Press Printers
Patrick M. Ryan, Third Generation Owner of Modern Press, One Colonie Street, Albany, NY is pleased to announce that Thomas Urbano, the President/Owner of Capitol Press Printers in Albany, New York has chosen Modern Press to service his customers as he eases into retirement.
Mr. Ryan is looking forward to the opportunity to continue to provide great family-owned and operated service to Capitol Press’ customers. “Mr. Urbano’s decision to choose us is a fantastic compliment,” Mr. Ryan said. He went on to say that “we won’t let him or his customers down”.
Capitol Press Printers was founded in 1939 by Lou Urbano with a Golding hand-fed press and a Kluge auto-fed press. His son, Thomas Urbano started working at Capitol Press while still in high school setting type on a Linotype machine. After graduation, in 1953, Tom started working full-time, eventually taking over the business in the 1970’s.
Modern Press, a family owned and operated commercial printer established in 1946 by Patrick’s grandfather, Patrick J. Ryan, will be handling Capitol Press Printer’s accounts with the assistance of the retiring President/Owner, Thomas Urbano. Modern Press will continue to provide excellent printing, with a fast turnaround, while offering a variety of new technologies to customers, such as fully digital pre-press, high speed Xerox Digital Press printing, variable data printing, die-cutting, four color offset printing and online ordering and file transfer. Customers will have access to a larger design, digital printing and offset press department, allowing for quicker turnaround, even on big jobs. “Modern Press has the knowledge, capability, and commitment to excellence to continue providing Capitol Press Printer’s customers with state-of-the-art printing services”, said Patrick Ryan. Both Patrick Ryan and Thomas Urbano will be visiting clients to introduce them to the enhanced print capabilities that Modern can offer them. “We will be striving to provide the same level of customer service and satisfaction that has been a standard at Capitol Press for 70 years”, said Patrick Ryan. All files, artwork, and job information will be archived at Modern Press so that customers will be able to order as they always have. Mr. Ryan said “he is also looking forward to listening to the customer’s needs and earning their trust”.
